In the early 70s, eight years after the Algerian war, when the French still had a considerable presence in the country of my birth, my father took me to the airport in Oran, Algeria. It was a beautiful day and the airport was almost completely deserted. Suddenly, we heard a fighter taking off. For some unknown reason, as we watched, the pilot proceeded to fill the air above us with aerobatic maneuvers. It was a spectacular sight.

Somehow, that remarkable experience triggered my lifelong passion to be an aviator. I wanted to be in the sky. I wanted to be able to control an aircraft. Today, after 8,600 hours. (about half as a corporate aviator and the other half teaching), I am a very happy man. At least I am as long as I am not too far from the inside of a cockpit. My secondary need is to share my joy with others, so I became a certified flying instructor in 2005. In the pic below, you can see my happy smile in one of my favorite aircraft the CM170 (with Michael), after a flight.

Steven Kuluris

maintenance engineer

I am a newly certificated pilot on a journey to continuously learn and acquire additional flight ratings. My background as a mechanical engineer, specializing in aerodynamics, has provided me with a solid foundation that seamlessly intersects with my love for flying. Inspired by my grandfather, a seasoned marine pilot and mechanical engineer, I am determined to carry on the family legacy, combining engineering thinking with the art of flight.
