Moto

When you decide to become a pilot, we are here to help you achieve your dream.

Experience

We are a team of experienced pilots with over 35.000 hours combined.

DA Aircraft

Beloved among pilots for being one of the most reliable, safest airplanes you can fly.

Private Pilot

Do you like to be an aviator?

The very first thing is to be sure you like to fly…. Hence we recommend to do a short flight. Count 0.8 hours. This time will count for your training.

Medical requirement:

You need to pass a physical exam. This can be done by your regular Medical Doctor. More later on this.

Who we are:

Our exact tittle is CFI: Certified Flight Instructor.
The US congress delegates to the FAA the responsibility to train PILOTS.
The FAA delegates this responsibility to CFI.

Requirements / budget:

You need a minimum of 40 hours of flight time before we can present you to an FAA Inspector for your Private Pilot Check Ride. Note the average national is 84 Hours. Therefore the minimum investment is
Plane 40 hours at 200$/h ($8,000)
CFI (flight) 30 Hours at 85$/h ($2,550) *this is 30 hours because you need 10 hours of SOLO.

Schedule:

The ideal is to fly once per week, the typical flight will be 1.2h. Therefore you plan that your training will last minimum 30 weeks.

Studies:

To become a Pilot you need to pass a written test. It is rather easy but one must study. The study time will be roughly 50h on your own and we will review each chapter together.

Financial commitment:

None, you pay as you go. Voila, contact us to book a flight together to get started.

Scheduling:

Contact us by email: email: jlpous1@hotmail.com, we will send you access to scheduling

About Us

Decades of flying and over 35.000h combined flight time, we are ready to take you to the skies.

  • High altitude flight training

Literally elevate your flying experience with a high altitude endorsement through our high altitude training so you can be Pilot In Command (PIC) for pressurized aircraft above 25,000 feet. You’ll learn about the effect of high altitudes on the body and how to manage the aircraft systems used to keep pressurization to lower altitude pressures.

  • Instrument Rating

Become a more versatile and capable pilot, ensuring safety and precision in diverse environments by gaining an Instrument Flight Rating (IFR). You’ll increase your skill set by confidently navigating and controlling the aircraft solely relying on instruments.

  • Mountain Flying

Indeed Mountains flying applies very much in Santa Fe, where the density altitude can be as high as 9,800 feet. A good preparation for mountain flying where you will have peaks on your left and right wings on the east pass from Taos to Angel Fire. The flight generally takes place early morning to avoid mountains wave and certainly after a solid ground.
The ground we do the day before…

What others say about us

I had a free morning during my vacation and reached out via email to Jean-Luc Pous. He returned my email very quickly and we set up some ground and dual training for the next morning. What a blessing. A super nice instructor. I learned more about mountain flying and safety than I thought was possible in an hour. I did not give enough notice to secure a mid size single, but they had a 150hp C-150 that we spent an hour at 8,000. I have my PPL, and this was an hour of dual well spent.

Wonderful experience! Jean-Luc is a fantastic instructor. He explains the content clearly and the flying experience is top notch. Mountain flying is amazing and Jean-Luc made the experience safe and enjoyable. I highly recommend!

If you are looking for mountain flying experience, give Jean Luc a call. In a few hrs I was comfortable taking a flight through the Rockies from Santa Fe to Pagosa springs for an elk hunt. Jean Luc is very knowledgeable and a fantastic instructor. We had a lot of fun with our language differences as well!! Give Jean Luc a call!!!

I’m not sure if you remember me right off the bat, but I was one of your students at the CAP national flight academy of ’07. I’m glad I found you on facebook, I looked you up after seeing Greg Hodgkin’s site (my “wingman”), and the interesting thing is that he and I will both be reporting at the Air Force Academy for basic training on Thursday. We’re gonna be cadets of the same class, perhaps the same squadron! It’s funny how things work out.

Anyways, I’ll never forget you as a flight instructor. You were hands down the best I’ve ever had. After NFA, I started lessons for my private pilot’s license and earned it last summer. I followed that up with an instrument rating which I finished in April and a multi-engine rating in a Piper Seneca that I completed just a week ago. I’m hoping all that training will better my odds of getting a place on the powered flying team at the Air Force Academy…that would be a dream come true.
